Installation, Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery, Shropshire UK Cotton, broken clay pipes and pottery pieces and map. 3metres x 3metres x 1.5 metres March 2015
A ribbed valley of fabric dyed using rusty iron objects found at a site in Broseley. Each ‘rib’ cradles an object also found on the same site in Broseley. Behind the ‘valley’ Ordnance Survey maps show the River Severn. Fragments and found objects cover the floor of the cabinet.
The work considers the link between geology and people. Geology as a raw material; iron, clay, coal; to be dug, fired or moulded; and geology as a landscape to be climbed, descended or viewed.
